Bob's 'New' Tri-ang Standard Track Layout at the Tri-ang Show, Oxford 2007

“ROVEX REVISITED” – a classic Tri-ang Railways layout.

This 6’ x 4’ layout is based on the LR.26 track plan that Tri-ang issued in the mid-fifties, to show what could be done with their wonderful range of OO gauge toy trains and accessories.

As a young boy in those days, I could only look at these pictures and dream about having a layout like that…..The possibility of actually owning one seemed as far away as the moon! So basically that is the reason I built this layout, now 50 years later.

It uses the first generation ‘standard’ track, which I feel complements the Tri-ang platforms and other lineside structures best. The rolling stock also dates from the 1952 – 1958 period. On this layout you will find everything that gave Tri-ang model trains such fantastic play value : the Electric Level Crossing and Turntable, and the Operating Royal Mail Coach and Ore Wagon Sets. And of course my Tri-ang Society namesake, the R.78 Girder Bridge!

At the Tri-ang Society, member’s layouts are named ‘Rovex Returns ’, ‘Rovex Reborn’ etc, so I have named my layout Rovex Revisited to honour that trend.

On this layout you will find no ‘do not touch’ signs; if you’d like to operate it, do not hesitate to say so. It usually goes wrong, but who cares? Tri-ang is meant to be fun!
