Taken in the dying moments of a well known layout first exhibited in 1989, this is Mike Fowler and one of his sons at Sandy this year about to send the last train from Binns Road. After 18 years Mike’s layout and collection hits the buffers and will be sold. The layout started as a pure Hornby Dublo 2 rail hence the name ‘Binns Road’ but later as Tri-ang made a real impact and then Trix and Graham Farish it became more a “Layout of the Sixties” reflecting what you could have built in about 1964/5. The last train was a Trix Scotsman pulling Hornby Dublo and Graham Farish Pullmans plus a Tri-ang Hornby converter wagon….so the spirit of the layout was maintained to the end”
