Graeme Eldred

"The contents of my garage, approx. 1990. The layout featured "vintage" model railways, mainly Horby Dublo with some Trix, Marklin and other makes, as well as accessories by Britains, Master Models, Crescent etc. There were four main running lines, two each of two and three rail, with interchange facilities, using Trix fibre track. Now sadly dismantled, following a few house moves since then"

My portable layout, on display at the North East London Mecanno Club exhibition, September 1999

A display of O gauge toy trains on Ballater railway station, 9th to 17th August 2003. The trains were running from 09.00 to 18.00 each day, on a layout built for the event, using a mixture of modern K-Line electric track, Hornby clockwork track from the 1950s and a mixture of Lionel and Marx 027 electric track from pre war to fairly recent times. A total of nine electric locos were available, plus two visiting electric locos, manufactured by Hornby, Bing, Lionel and Marx. Stock was from those manufacturers, and more, dating from the mid 1920s to late 1960s.

A new O Gauge Layout commenced January 2006
The main requirements continue to be :
Loops of low profile 027 track to run early Marx locos, with the huge drive cogs
Larger radius loops of full sized O gauge three rail track
A loop of two rail track, to run both clockwork (mechanical) locos, and Kusan electric locos
The majority of my stock and accessories are of US origin, so an American layout it is to be. Marx and Lionel, together with other, smaller, manufacturers, such as Hafner, Colber and Unique Arts, as well as British and European stock on occasions.
Initial ideas concentrate on two loops of 0 gauge track at baseboard level, two loops of 027 track at a higher level, within the 0 gauge, and a loop of two rail track at a third level.
